Shrubs & Trees

A shrub or bush is a small- to medium-sized perennial woody plant. Unlike herbaceous plants, shrubs have persistent woody stems above the ground. Shrubs can be deciduous or evergreen.

Trees play a significant role in reducing erosion and moderating the climate. They remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and store large quantities of carbon in their tissues. Trees and forests provide a habitat for many species of animals and plants. 

Evergreen is a plant whose “foliage remains green and functional through more than one growing season.” This also pertains to plants that retain its foliage only in warm climates, and contrasts deciduous plants, which completely lose their foliage during the winter or dry season.
